1260 honored with PACDC 2013 Blue Ribbon Award for Excellence in Community Development

On April 19, 1260 Housing Development Corporation was awarded PACDC’s 2013 Blue Ribbon Award for Excellence in Community Development for two recent affordable housing developments: Temple I and Temple II in North Philadelphia and Walnut Hill West in West Philadelphia. Near Temple University, 98 affordable rental apartments in 50 historic townhomes give the disabled and vulnerable individuals healthy and affordable homes. And at 56th and Walnut, 32 renovated apartments with energy-efficient appliances are home to veterans and others in six buildings.
Nicetown CDC also won a Blue Ribbon Award for Nicetown Court I and II, both mixed-used developments. Individuals who were recognized include Angel Palmer, Manager of Emergency Food Programs at M.A.P. Holistic CDC who received the Community Leader Award for outstanding volunteers; and Alex Balloon, Commercial Corridor Manager for Tacony CDC, and Rebecca Johnson, Executive Director of Fairmount CDC. Both received PACDC’s Rising Star award for individuals under 40.
